Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Translucent Illuminator

The Perfecting Translucent Illuminator ($14.99) is a new launch for fall and a permenent addition to Sonia Kashuk's makeup line. The illuminator has a paraben and fragrance-free formula that restores and preserves skin’s elasticity with an exclusive blend of natural actives containing Cellintegrity Raspberry Stem Cell Extract and a Youth Preserving Bearberry Complex act. It also claims to protect, repair and prevent premature aging, inflammation and irritation to smooth and brighten skin over time.

One of my favourite ways to use this illuminator is my mixing it with a makeup base or primer. It has very finely milled shimmer that gives skin a gorgeous, natural looking sheen. The color is a warm toned nude that blends with most tinted moisturizers and adds a dewy finish without making you look like a shiny disco ball. It works great over makeup too but, I find that it adds a natural glow even when used under makeup! As far as the texture goes, it is smooth, the shimmer isn't chunky and feels very moisturizing. Because of the fine shimmer, it doesn't emphasize pores either. The pump tube is perfect for dispensing and controlling the amount of product needed and the packaging travels very well too. I haven't used it enough to see any anti-aging effects but, I will update if it does in the long run.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Translucent Illuminator and highly recommend it if you are looking for an affordable, natural looking illuminator. The color is rather sheer so there's no way of going overboard with this. It is a great multi-tasking product that works over or under makeup and perfect for those minimal makeup days.

  4. How would you compare this to Benefit's High Beam?

    1. High Beam is a little more of a pinkish pearl. This is a peachy nude and warmer :)

    1. Depends on what you are looking for. No7 high lights is a little more cool toned. This is a little more subtle looking than high lights and may not show up so well when used alone on lighter skintones...
