Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll Mascara

I'm not someone who would normally splurge on a mascara, considering they have to be tossed out every 3-4 months. Most ones from the drugstore do a good job without breaking the bank for me. However, I got to try out a deluxe sample of YSL's Baby Doll ($30) mascara a while back and absolutely loved it so much as to splurge on a full size!

I love the packaging of this mascara - its very classy and the tube is lightweight. There's a light floral scent that doesn't bother me, but I would prefer unscented. My requirements from a mascara are pretty simple, (sort of) - lots of volume, clean definition and decent length. I almost, always use a lash curler, so anything that holds a curl is a big plus for me. YSL's Baby Doll is very lengthening, volumizing and holds the curl fabulously well. It does however clump, especially when used in a hurry, so the clean definition part of it isn't quite perfect. It also doesn't flake or smudge at all, unlike many non-waterproof mascaras that leave a ring of pigment around my eyes. I picked up '01 Fetish Black', which is quite glossy and pigmented, and the formula, although slightly on the wetter side initially, dries pretty quick and washes off easily. I do wish the brush was a tad less wobbly though. My eyelashes are extremely short and stubby and this grabs even the tiniest of lashes easily and lengthens them pretty well.

Two coats ; quite perfect on the right eye (your left) and quite clumpy on the other eye, especially the inner corners!

Overall, I absolutely love it and will most likely re-purchase, unless I see something a little more fancy that I would want to try out. Plus, I love trying out new mascaras (all the more better if they're affordable) and switching it up pretty often!

Have you tried the Yves Saint Lauren Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll Mascara?
