L’Eau d' Issey Summer Eau de Toilette ($76; shop.nordstrom.com) is a fruity floral composition and this year’s seasonal summer 2015 launch from Issey Miyake. The limited edition bottle features illustrations by Yulia Brodskaya, known for her handmade and paper illustrations. The notes include lychee, grapefruit, pitahaya, guava, passion fruit and a mix of various florals.
The opening is sparkling fresh, mostly lychee, grapefruit and a little bit floral. The dry down has a bit of vanilla which makes it quite creamy and sweet. The scent itself is quite similar to the original L’eau d'Issey, this one’s lighter, airy and a bit sweeter. It has a tropical feel to it and is quite a youthful scent, well done, without going overboard with the sweetness. So far, whatever variations of Issey Mikaye’s L’Eau d'Issey Summer I’ve tried have been really nice spring/summer picks for me. If you like light, simple and fresh fruity florals, you can’t go wrong here. The longevity is average, I’d say about 4-5 hours or so and maybe a little lesser on a very hot summer day.
