The Honest Company, with a great line of natural body care products has now ventured into skincare and makeup. I tried a few bits from the makeup line and a daily gel cleanser from the Honest Beauty skincare line. The Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser ($18; honestbeauty.com; press sample), formulated without Sulfates, parabens, steareth-n, synthetic fragrances, or dyes, is a gentle cleanser for all skin types. It is also supposed to remove makeup, but I found it effective as a skin cleanser rather than a makeup remover.
The Cleanser comes packaged in an opaque grey and white plastic pump bottle - nice packaging, but difficult to know how much is left after a few uses, but I guess I’ll just go by the weight of the bottle. The clear gel cleanser doesn’t foam very much and cleanses skin without stripping. It does a great job of removing very light makeup and surface grime and works as a second cleanser too, after makeup removal. I did have to use a moisturizer afterwards, but the cleanser itself is quite gentle, with a very slight herbal scent that is completely gone once you wash it off. On oilier skin types, I can see this working as a great balancing cleanser too. Honest Beauty proudly supports Girls Who Code, an organization dedicated to inspiring, educating and equipping girls with the skills to pursue 21st Century opportunities in the fields of computer science and technology.Proceeds from every purchase of Honest Beauty products help fund skills training and education for young women to pursue their dreams.Overall, a cleanser definitely worth trying out if you are on the lookout for a basic, non-drying, gentle cleanser with a good ingredients list.
