Hakuhodo G5528BKSL, J533HBKSL Eyeshadow Brushes

J533HBKSL ($19; hakuhodousa.com) and G5528BkSL ($30; hakuhodousa.com) are two recent eyeshadow brushes I picked up from Hakuhodo. They’re both great for quick smokey eyes, smudging shadow or liners and precise shadow application on the crease.

G5528BkSL is a very soft, round brush. It has a rounded tip that is great for softening shadows or color placement on the crease. The bristles are made of Blue Squirrel hair and don’t feel one bit scratchy or rough when used along the lash lines. Its not quite the shape of a pencil brush, yet can be used for smudging shadows, liners and to create quick smokey eyes effortlessly. The J533HBKSL is a pencil brush - the tip is rather pointy when compared to the G5528BkSL. The bristles are Horse hair, I think. I can’t find much info on this brush right now since it is no longer available on the Hakuhodo website. While I do think it is a soft brush, it does feel just a tad less softer than the G5528BkSL, but way softer compared to most other pencil brushes like say, the MAC219. Both of them are quite easy to clean and they dry fast. Like most brushes from Hakuhodo, these have held up well and feel sturdy and well made. If you are looking for pencil brushes or domed shadow brushes for smudging, smoking out colors, especially along the lash lines, do give these brushes a try!
