I've been testing out a few products that were part of the CEW Beauty Insider Awards recently and have a few quick thoughts to share on them. These are my top 3 picks that I’ve really enjoyed using - Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming (Winner)EDT, Sephora PRO Featherweight Powder Brush (Finalist) and the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm (Finalist).
Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming ($74; sephora.com) is a gorgeous floral with a lot of warmth, creaminess and just the right amount of headiness. The packaging is very Dior and the fragrance is a sophisticated, somewhat grown up scent that I could wear all through the year. The notes include Red Berry Accord, Grasse Rose Absolute, Peony Accord and White Musk Accord. It is quite a light fragrance though, but great if you like floral-musky compositions, in a lighter base.
Sephora PRO Featherweight Powder Brush #91 ($40; sephora.com) is a fantastic all over brush for loose/pressed powders, bronzers and blushes. I absolutely love this one with loose and pressed powders and how fabulously well made it is. The brush itself feels weighty, but the bristles are super lightweight and ultra soft. Its a great brush to have for any kind of sheer powder product and the construction is very sturdy. It does take a bit of time to dry though, because of the slightly dense bristles.
The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm ($46; sephora.com) is daily deep cleansing balm, part of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair range. I like to use this one with a warm washcloth and it gets everything off without stinging my eyes or drying out my skin. A little bit goes a long way since it turns into a milky oil when warmed up. There’s no strong scent and while a second cleanse is something I’d do all the time with balm cleansers, you could get away without one if you use it with a warm washcloth as there is only minimal product residue. A great cleansing balm for normal-dry skin types in particular!
