The Caviar Stick Eye Colors ($29; sephora.com) by Laura Mercier now come in a few neutral Matte shades. The newer shades are mostly lighter-medium toned nudes of which, I tried four colors. Blossom, a light pink nude, Vanilla Kiss, a matte cream, Fog, a matte, cool toned grey and Cobblestone, a taupe-y brown. The formula was creamy, just like the shimmery ones, but I did feel like these set a little more quicker in comparison to the shimmers. They are just as pigmented and easy to apply straight from the twist up tube. Fog and Cobblestone are more true neutrals for my skin tone, while Vanilla Kiss and Blossom are lighter and work better as bases for me. Since these are matte, they also make for great eyeshadow bases, making the product layered last longer. I did not have any blending issues with these while using my fingers, but when using a brush, I did have to blend them out quickly because of how fast they set. That apart, they are very convenient, easy to use, quick and perfect as eyeshadow bases or by themselves. They also are buildable and perfect for a very neutral eye or just as a wash of color when you don’t want too much shimmer.
