I’ve been trying out a few anti-aging, skincare bits from Algenist these past couple of months & here are some quick thoughts.
The Elevate Advanced Retinol Serum ($98; sephora.com) is a vegan retinol, gentle enough to be used everyday. It layers beautifully and does not feel heavy. I do prefer using retinols in the night and with this one, I had a mild reaction initially, but it went away within the next few uses. A little bit of peeling and dryness cropped up after the first use, which was gone after the next couple of uses. I don’t use this everyday, more like 2-3 times a week and it has helped my skin feel softer, smoother and more balanced, by working in a very gentle way.
The Genius Anti-Aging Vitamin C+ Serum ($118; sephora.com) is a very brightening serum that layers well under moisturizer or can be worn alone. Its a little sticky and takes a while to sink in completely, but a really nice one if you have lackluster skin and the effects can be seen almost instantly, the very next day.
The Advance Anti-Aging Repairing Oil ($82; sephora.com) is a fabulous, quick absorbing, dry oil and perfect for anyone with normal-dry skin that needs lightweight moisture without the greasy, sticky feel. I also like this one as a makeup primer. It is also a good balancing oil if you have combination skin. Definitely recommend it if you have dry skin and want something super lightweight and hydrating.
