Products That Did Not Work For Me - Part 2

A few tried/tested products, that just did not work for me. Some of these products had a huge hype surrounding them that I had to run out to the store & buy them only to be terribly disappointed  Again, these are products that did not work for me, so they may or may not work for you. This is just a post to share what hasn't worked for me and not an attempt to offend any of you, if these are some of your favourite products :-)  I did a Part 1 of these a while back, here goes part 2.

First up, is the Philosophy purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser ($10 - $49.50) - I did a whole post about how I just couldn't get to like this product & thought I should include it here as well. I cannot understand all the love surrounding this cleanser. It is just too strong for my sensitive skin and does nothing at all to cleanse in one step. Thankfully, I did not splurge on a full size which is way overpriced anyways.

Tarte Cheek Stain in Loving ($30) - Loving is one of Tarte's newer shades that is a super shimmery, peachy bronze. The formula of the blush is pretty good for dry skin but Tarte went overboard on the shimmer with this one. It made me look greasy, enlarged my pores and lasted about 2 hours on me. Too bad since the ones without the shimmer work fantastic on dry skin. I think this is the problem with the shimmery ones as they aren't very finely milled.

EOS Lip Balm ($2.99) - Another one of those products with cute packaging that does not work for me at all. I did like it a lot initially, but over time realized it did absolutely nothing for my lips. The moisture is just like a top layer that will eventually rub off and leave lips feeling dry. It does have a decent ingredients list without the nasties though.

Make Up for Ever HD Micro finish Blush in Quickie ($26) - The only MUFE HD blush I tried that made me decide I may not buy any more. I found the consistency to be really, really thick and totally difficult to blend. Not sure if its my dry skin or if I got a defective piece, since a lot of people seem to love it. The packaging is great, but I would much prefer a creamier texture even if its not packaged in a pump.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion - I love the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencils and own a ton of them. But, Perversion is just the odd one out here. The formula, although slightly more slick and softer than the other pencils, stings and irritates my eyes. I love the other colors they offer, with Zero being my most used black liner and haven't had any sort of irritation even with the ones with glitter. I love the jet black color of perversion and its such a shame I can't get to use it on my waterline. I have seen quite a few people complain about the formula too, so I really hope UD does something about it.

So, what are some products that left you disappointed you when you had high hopes for them?

  1. I totally agree with the MUFE HD Blush! I didn't like it at all. I found eos nice, but they didn't heal extremely chapped lips.

    1. Right? That blush is just not worth the hype..me thinks. The colors seemed alright but that's it!

  2. I love such posts which help in saving my money rather than splurging over hyped product. I skipped buying mufe hd blush & eos lip balm when there was so much hype around it though I had almost bought them but my non-impulsive shopper nature saved me!

    1. Thanks Giggle! Glad you like it. And good thing you are a non-impulsive shopper! I am super impulsive and regret later, although I'm getting better at it now :)

  3. I agree with you about eos lip balm. It's a total dud for me. I was excited about it when a friend sent it to me as a gift (I love organic beauty products), but I found myself smearing it on every hour on the hour. :(

I was all ready to love NARS Super Orgasm. I heard it was a better option for darker skinned ladies (since Orgasm is better for light to medium skin tones). But it's a glitter bomb! Good grief, I felt like I was a a disco when I first tried it. LOL.

    1. Ooh the Orgasm, Super Orgasms and the hype they have. I remember swatching super orgasm once and how glittery it was. Din't waste money on it. And EOS, I'm happy there are quite a few ppl who have the same opinion :)

  4. I was hesitant to get an EOS lipbalm but people seem to have such different opinion on them, I would say 50/50! I have tons of lipbalms already though... I love these posts, much more useful than the classic "monthly favorites"!

    1. Maybe I should do a monthly misses or something, haha?!! Some people say EOS is their HG lip balm. I have terribly chapped lips which is probably why I'm thinking it doesn't work for me?

  5. EOS lip balm didn't work for me either, I disliked the two scents I tried, hate the packaging, and it wasn't moisturizing. TOTAL FAIL.

    1. The packaging is ok but in winter, I hated how my dry bits would cling on the top of the balm, gross! And it never, ever works, even as a base.
