Sonia Kashuk Spring 2013 - Part of the Tribe 6-Piece Brush Set

Sonia Kashuk's Spring Collection features some fabulous new limited-edition brush sets and the Part of the Tribe 6-Piece Brush Set ($24.99; Press Samples) comes with 6 assorted face and eye makeup brushes in a travel friendly woven, zip-around case! The brushes include, an angled foundation brush, a duo fiber blending brush, a flat eye shadow brush, domed blush/powder brush, definition brush and a lash/brow groomer. I quite like the assortment of brushes in here and the fancy handles are a nice little touch. Like most Sonia Kashuk brushes, the construction is sturdy, well-made and the brushes don't feel heavy.

Angled Foundation Brush - Its a flat foundation brush that works better with cream blushes than concealer or foundation. It would have been better for use with foundations if it was a tad more dense though.

Duo Fiber Blending Brush - This is my favorite blush from this kit - its a fluffy  duo fiber blush that blends and buffs in powder and cream products flawlessly. I love to use this with concealers for the under eye area and also for crease work. The only gripe is the little amount of shedding I noticed with the first few washings.

Flat Eye Shadow Brush - Its a no brainer eye shadow brush to pick up and place shadows. The slightly fluffy edge helps blend away harsh lines and excess color.

Definition Brush - If this was a tad more sharp and dense, it would make for a great pencil brush to smudge shadows and liners along the lower lash line. But, I quite like using it for precise color placement, perfect for a touch of highlighter on the inner corners to brighten the eye area.

Domed Blush/Powder brush - I haven't seen this brush sold separately and think its a really great dense, buffing brush to have for blush and powder. The size is ideal for buffing away excess color on your cheeks. Since it is dense, often times too much color gets picked up, which is why I keep it only for blending and absolutely love it with sheer blushes for a soft wash of color!

I've washed these quite a few times and with the exception of the Duo Fiber Blush and the Domed Blush/Powder brush, none of them had shedding issues. The Duo Fiber Brush did shed just a little more than the blush brush for the first few washings though. Other than that, its a great little kit, a nice way to try out a couple of great brushes from Sonia Kashuk and great value for money as well!

What do you think of the Sonia Kashuk Part of the Tribe 6-piece brush set?
