Sonia Kashuk Spring 2012 - Star Studded 7-piece Brush Set

The Star Studded 7-piece Brush Set by Sonia Kashuk($24.99) is new for Spring and Limited-Edition. The brush set features seven essential eye and face brushes with glossy looking turquoise and gold accents. The set also comes with a chic woven clutch.

Most of the brushes in this kit are also available individually which is why the price point of this kit makes it a great value for money. The brushes are made from a mix of synthetic and cruelty-free goat hair.

Crease Brush - A dome shaped, stiff, dense crease brush, with synthetic nylon bristles that blends cream and powder eye shadows effortlessly. The brush is super soft and does not scratch or poke while blending.

Smudge Brush - A stiff, flat smudge brush made from pony hair. The brush is super dense and smudges eye shadow and pencils along the lower lashline very well.

Angled Eye Shadow Brush - Not very dense but a super soft brush made from goat hair. I like to use this to place color and blend along the crease. The angled shape makes it easier to be used on the outer corners and crease area. It also works really well while applying high-lighter along the top of the cheekbones.

Angled Eye Liner Brush - A must-have and one of my favourite eye brushes from Sonia Kashuk. The shape is super convenient for gel liners and something I cannot apply gel liner without. It is a great tool to have when you like to wing your liner out. I have this in the classic white handle from the core collection and it was my very first Sonia Kashuk brush.

Medium Eye Shadow Brush - Although not too stiff, it is small enough to apply eye shadow to my eyelids when I want to press on powder eye shadows. Made from goat hair.

Powder/Blush Brush - Another must have brush in this kit. I love the softness and the size of this blush for powders - loose and pressed. It picks up the right amount of product for blushes and blends them beautifully. 

Overall, these are some great quality brushes and a I love the selection too. They did not shed/bleed upon washing. The ones made with goat hair tend to splay just a little bit upon washing so be sure to shape them back before laying them to dry. The packaging is very pretty and the colorful handles add a nice pop of color.

Lancôme Le French Touch Absolu Nu in Cotton Candy

Le French Touch Absolu Nu in Cotton Candy($35) is an ultra sheer, limited-edition pink lipstick part of Lancome's Spring 2012 collection. The lipstick comes in a cute special edition packaging, very classy looking.

Cotton Candy looks a little too bubblegum-ish on the tube but goes on way sheerer than how it looks. The color can be described as a sheer, soft cool toned baby pink with no hint of shimmer or glitter. It has a nice glossy sheen. I apply it very lightly, probably a couple of swipes. Too much tends to wash me out a little. It is a great everyday shade subtle by itself and pairs well with neutral and smokey eyes. The texture is more like a tinted lip balm and glides well on well-prepped bare lips. With a lip balm underneath, it does tend to get a little patchy. If you have extremely dry lips, prepping is essential. The lipstick feels absolutely weightless and balmy. The soft feel and light weight makes it an amazing pick for the warmer months ahead.

 

 

 

The staying power is about 2-3 hours after which it is completely gone. Overall, Le French Touch Absolu Nu in Cotton Candy is a nice, sheer lipstick with a slick, glossy finish. I wish it lasted a bit longer than 3 hours on me. The packaging is very beautiful and makes for a great collector's item.
