ELLE Cosmetics - Review, Photos & Swatches

ELLE is a new line of cosmetics that is available exclusively at Kohls and kohls.com. I got to test out a few pieces from the runway inspired collection. With the exception of the nail polish, the products go by numbers instead of shade names.

Powder Blush in 05($16) - 05 is a matte peachy pink with a nice and smooth texture. There wasn't any fall out from the shade and neither was it chalky. It is also nicely pigmented and turns up a little cooler than how it looks in the pan.

Single Eye Shadow in 17($16) - 17, a metallic blue-green duo chrome is very pigmented but quite difficult to blend especially over a primer. The texture is alright and there's no fall out. The color may not be very flattering on me but, I think they have some nice bronzy browns and warm nudes too. I do feel the eye shadow is quite pricey for what it does and works better without a base especially when blending. However, it stays on for about 3 hours without a base and fades rather than creasing all over the place. The packaging also doesn't feel very sturdy and the plastic case feels a little too flimsy and cheap.

Lipgloss in 03($16) - I really like the texture and the feel of the lip gloss. This nude pink works well alone or over any lipstick, doesn't dry my lips out and is not overly sticky. It also has a slight, sweet smell that I like. The staying power, like most glosses is about 2-3 hours on me.

Nail Polish in Red Carpet Red ($10) - This is a classic, opaque bright red that goes on without being streaky. I don't see a mention of it being 3-free anywhere and I do think it is a little pricey considering it started to chip after about 2 days on me. I do like the thin brush though. It is a decent polish and I think the line itself has some nice pastels to choose from.

Overall, the blush and the lip gloss are my favorites since they seem to be of great quality considering how they are priced. The other products are not bad by any means but, with a little bit of tweaking, they would be perfect. Actual names instead of numbers would have been nice since the line has quite a good shade selection.
