Shiseido Ibuki Skincare - Gentle Cleanser & Refining Moisturizer

Shiseido's new skincare collection Ibuki, is designed specifically to address the unique skincare concerns of women ages 25-34 - it targets skin conditions such as large pores, visible blemishes, dry skin and unevenness. I got to try out a couple of products from the Ibuki line - the Gentle Cleanser ($30 ;shiseido.com) and the Refining Moisturizer ($45; shiseido.com).  The packaging of both these products are simple, clean and practical.  *Press Samples

The Gentle Cleanser is a foamy, creamy cleanser that is meant for normal-dry skin. It does what it says - cleanses without stripping and is quite gentle on my dry skin. It doesn't leave skin feeling tight instantly, but I do need a moisturizer after a few minutes. It is quite thick, so a little goes a long way. When I'm not wearing too much makeup, it does get most of it off. My only qualm is the slightly strong fragrance - its a lovely scent, but just a tad strong for a facial cleanser. That apart, its very luxurious, effective and super silky, texture wise!

The Refining Moisturizer is a creamy, slightly runny lotion that moisturizes without any greasiness. I started using it when the weather wasn't so dry and it was just the right balance for my combination-dry skin at that time. Now my skin is even drier, so I mix just a couple of drops of any facial oil to make it a little more richer. It still is fast absorbing and helps retain moisture with absolutely no heaviness. Its a wonderful moisturizer for any kind of dryness issues and a really nice base for makeup. Once I'm done with this, I would definitely check out the Refining Moisturizer Enriched, a richer, creamier version of this one, which might be better suited for winter. This one too has a nice scent, but not as strong as the Gentle Cleanser. Overall, I'm impressed with the Ibuki line and think its just as fantastic as any other skincare I've tried from Shiseido!

Have you tried anything from Shiseido's Ibuki line?

  2. i tried the moisturizer and it was too strongly scented for me, though otherwise it seemed like a pretty decent moisturizer. Good to know that the cleanser is even more scented!
