Guerlain’s new Les Tendres Spring 2015 Collection features the new Meteorites Compacts ($62; neimanmarcus.com) in three shades, very similar in tone and texture as the Meteorites Pearls that were re-formulated last year. I picked up Medium 03, which is what I wear in the Pearls and Medium seemed like a neutral color to wear as an all over face finishing powder. The lightest color, Clair, is probably better for someone with lighter skin tone and the darkest, Dore, is something I might consider buying since it seems like something that would add a bit of warmth and color.
The Meteorites Compact is good quality plastic that doesn't feel cheap and comes with a nice mirror and a storage pouch. The powder feels super finely milled, very soft to the touch, no fallout, just very silky and smooth. Medium is quite sheer, so perfect for all over the face as a sheer layer. It is quite easy to go overboard with the pressed version as opposed to the Pearls which I found din’t get picked up as much by a good, natural hair brush. I recommend going light handed on the compact as it can look a bit powdery if overdone. That said, Guerlain does make some fabulous finishing powders and the Meteorites Compacts are just as nice as the Pearls. There's a very subtle, barely there glow without the disco ball effect (a teeny tiny bit of shimmer, but only if seen upclose & doesn’t enhance pores) which I love. It does look a little matte initially, but wears well through the day once the natural oils start to come through. The strong scent definitely bothers me a little, so its one to keep in mind if you aren't a fan of scented face products. I’m not sure if the compacts are limited edition, but they are available with some stores only taking pre-orders and some others carrying only one shade, so if you like them, grab them soon. If you did like the re-formulated Meteorites Perles that came out earlier last year and want something similar that is easy to use and travel with, the Meteorites Compacts are definitely worth checking out!
