Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser - Worth the hype?

With all the hype surrounding this one-step facial cleanser, I was inclined to give it a try. So, I picked up the smallest size which is 3 fl.oz for $10. I love the packaging and the ease of use. This size is super travel-friendly and there's no product leakage either.

The cleanser is a milky white fluid that has a mild smell. This may sound weird but, the smell somehow reminds me of hair dye. The texture is quite runny and there's not much of a lather since it contains quite a bit of natural ingredients and quite a few oils. As a one step cleanser, Purity does not remove every last trace of makeup like I expected it to. I need to either double cleanse or use another cleanser prior to this. Even after all that, I don't somehow get the "clean" feeling but, my skin feels quite dry especially on the cheeks and around my mouth which is a huge deal-breaker for someone with dry/sensitive skin like me! I definately need to moisturize whenever I use this cleanser so, I'm not really sure if I'll categorize this as a gentle cleanser. If you have hardly any makeup on, or need something to tote around with, this works in a pinch. But, I don't see myself having a long-term relationship with this cleanser maily because I don't like the way my skin feels afterwards. For me, Purity is just meh and dare I say, not worth the hype! That being said, this is just my personal opinon and no offense to all the Purity lovers out there!

Have you tried Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser? Do you like it? Do tell!

  1. I'm so with you on this not being hypeorthy! I used up a whole huge bottle. It was okay at best and ineffective at worst, for me. *sigh* I suppose not everything can work for everyone. xP

  2. Never tried it, but I find most things that are hyped so much usually aren't as good as you'd think. :) Really want to try it though.

  8. I did a post about this on my blog a month or so ago, and I came to the same conclusion you did: not worth the hype, and did not remove all the makeup as everyone else says...so glad i only got the trial size of this stuff too! :-)

  9. I know! I still don't get how some people say it removes all traces of makeup. Anyways, I'm so glad there are at least a few who feel the same as I do :)
