Dior's newest launch is the Rouge Dior Baume ($35; dior.com), a sheer, balmy lipstick that moisturizes with a light wash of color. The range consists of 15 colors, some being exclusive to the Dior website. I picked up 488 Primerose from Saks, since most others were on pre-order, although they're all available to buy now!
Primerose is a sheer, slightly cool toned pink with a creme finish. I detect no hint of shimmer or glitter and the color doesn't wash me out, but anything more than a sheer wash can look a tad too pink against my complexion. The packaging of the Rouge Baumes are a tad slimmer than the Rouge Dior Lipsticks, and they have the CD logo engraved on the bullet, which fades off within the first two uses or so. I love the texture - it goes on smooth, the color is buildable and while not the most glossiest, it does have a lovely sheen that lasts until the color does. There's also a light, rose scent that I love, but it dissipates pretty fast. Like all sheer lipsticks, this one too wears about 2-3 hours and feels comfortable - not the most moisturizing, but not drying either. Compared to Chanel's Rouge Coco Shines and the YSL Rouge Volupte Shines, these are less glossier, but have the same balmy texture and a slight slick feel. Overall, though, its a really nice product, could be a tad more glossy, but I will still be checking out more colors, once I spot it at my local Dior counter.
